This replica of a Yagura Tower was built in 1983 by Korean-American architect David Hyun (born 1917).

Fire Tower at Japanese Village Plaza in Little Tokyo, Downtown Los Angeles

Traditional Japanese fire lookout towers are called Hi-no-mi yagura (火の見櫓 in kanji, ひのみやぐら in hiragana). This is at the entrance of the Japanese Village Plaza in Little Tokyo. Photo taken in April 2008 around the time of the Grand Sumo Tournament.
